This very nice 3-rail AC HO gauge locomotive by Roco is 43856 a DR BR E17 electric loco in grey livery, it has running number E17 109.

The locomotives of the E 17 series (referred to as DB series 117 from 1968 ) were  ordered by DRG in 1927. They were to be used for  medium-heavy express train services. After the Second World War, 26 locomotives were still in service with the Deutsche Bundesbahn and two with the Deutsche Reichsbahn . The two DR machines were retired in 1968 and then scrapped.

At the DB, the locomotives were modernized in 1960/61; the E 17 110 received new fronts with only two driver's cab windows. In 1968, all remaining 26 locomotives were redesignated as class 117 . The depot for the 117 series was the Augsburg depot , where all E 17s were based from 1967 onwards. From there the locomotives were used on the routes to Munich, Nuremberg and Stuttgart. Reversing stations in the Stuttgart district were Heilbronn and Böblingen. The last 117 (117 106) was retired on April 24, 1980.

At least two remain in preservation.

The loco is in good condition as you can see in the pictures, The locomotive is tested and runs with working lights. We have tested it on rollers both in the forwards and backwards directions.  A complete external visual inspection has shown the overall condition is good, please see the pictures in the gallery for a good look a the loco. The box is in good if slightly shelf worn condition.

Overall this is a really nice scale locomotive and would look fantastic on a layout.

Do please have a look at our other listings, we typically have various HO and OO locos on offer as well as an extensive range of imported N gauge locos and other items.

Note: We do recommend all locos are cleaned & serviced, as they have some age to them even if the quality looks at the highest level (fairly standard advice for all locos!).
