ColorTone Aerosol Guitar Lacquer, Gold Top Metallic

Create a brilliant vintage-inspired metallic Gold Top finish with ColorTone Aerosol Guitar Lacquer. This professional spray lacquer is formulated for guitar builders, repair shops, luthiers, and players who want exceptional color depth, sparkle, and consistency without using ordinary hardware store paint.

ColorTone vintage-inspired lacquers are developed to capture the look and character of iconic 1950s and 1960s guitar finishes while recognizing that original instruments aged differently over time. Nitrocellulose finishes naturally yellow and shift, and factory colors often varied from batch to batch. ColorTone focuses on the essence of those classic hues, giving modern builds and restorations timeless visual character.

Apply to sanded bare wood, ColorTone fillers, sealers, or stains. Before spraying, pores should be filled and the grain should not be raised. Spray from 12 to 14 inches away using a consistent pattern, first horizontally and then vertically, for even coverage. Apply several coats, allowing 24 hours of drying time between coats. Sand between coats as needed to remove impurities, but do not sand the final metallic color coat before beginning the clear finishing process.

For best results, use in a clean area at approximately 70 to 75°F. Warm the aerosol can in warm tap water before spraying to help reduce spatter and improve flow.
