Royal Doulton Character / Peter Pan Literary Figure
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Captain Hook"
Modelled by Robert Tabbenor, this striking figure was issued by Royal Doulton as part of the Characters from Literature / Peter Pan Series and was produced between 1993 and 1997. The dramatic composition and exceptional modelling make it one of the more distinctive Royal Doulton character studies from the period.
The Royal Doulton ‘Captain Hook’ is an impressive and highly detailed character figurine depicting the infamous pirate captain descending a flight of wooden stairs beside an elaborately carved crocodile bannister. Inspired by the classic Peter Pan story, the figure captures Captain Hook in a proud and theatrical pose, complete with his prominent hooked right hand and sword held firmly in his left.
He is richly dressed in Regency-inspired attire featuring a black tricorn hat trimmed with white feathers, a flowing black wig, pale blue cravat over a white shirt, black silver-trimmed waistcoat secured with a blue cummerbund, and an ornate red coat decorated with gold braid and fasteners. His blue knee-length breeches, pale blue stockings and pale brown shoes with gold buckles complete the elaborate costume. The detailed staircase base includes the Royal Doulton crest to the reverse, adding further decorative appeal.
