Jim Brown 2002 Close Concentric Millefiori Paperweight – Signed Mint – Early Work #20501

Description:

A rare opportunity to own an early work by American studio glass artist Jim Brown, dated 2002 — just his second year of production. This exceptional close concentric millefiori paperweight showcases Brown’s signature style in a stunning blue and white colorway with densely packed, expertly crafted canes radiating outward from a central cluster in perfect concentric rings. The center cane includes a tiny bit of pink.

The cane work throughout is meticulous — multiple distinct millefiori designs are represented, set tightly together in the classic English Bacchus tradition Brown so masterfully emulates. A “B” signature cane is visible within the design, and the piece is hand signed on the base. The glass is optically flawless with outstanding clarity and depth.

Jim Brown began making paperweights in 2000 after leaving an engineering career to study glass at Tennessee Technology University. He produces a limited number of weights each year, and his 2001–2003 pieces are among the most sought after by serious collectors. This is an exceptional early example.

Approximately 3” in diameter and 2.5” tall.

This piece is part of my late father-in-law’s extensive glass collection. He had an incredible eye for beauty and always selected the best of the best. He also had a personal relationship with many artists so some pieces were commissioned or made specifically for him. Most items were promptly stored and never displayed. We are excited to share his carefully curated pieces with other collectors who will love and appreciate them as much as he did.
