Vintage Animated Motion Novelty Sally Rand Burlesque Fan Dancer Clock by United

Up for bid and for your consideration is this fun vintage animated motion novelty clock featuring a Sally Rand style fan dancer. Manufactured by the United Clock Corp.

This clock would make fun addition to any novelty clock or burlesque collection!

Here are the details:

It is about 11-1/2 inches wide, approx. 9-1/8 inches tall and about 3-3/8 inches deep. The diameter of the clock dial and bezel is almost 3-3/4 inches in diameter.

The dial features a club scene with dancers in the background and a main dancer to the front on the right. In her left hand she is holding a fan that moves back and forth with the seconds. It never really reveals anything, just goes back and forth. The dial has faded some with age.

The hands are black colored pointers with open diamond shapes at the point ends and are made of metal.

The dial is marked "United Clock Corp., Brooklyn, N.Y." along the bottom edge. It is being partially hidden by the spacer for the glass crystal.

The crystal is held in place by a silver tone bezel.

I believe that the bezel should be fit into another ring that would fit better in the opening of the case. There is a bit of a mark where it looks like the missing ring would overlap the edge of the opening in the case, but the bezel is not big enough to overlap the edge. As it is the movement sits loosely in the case.

The winder and time set knob are both present as well as a fast/slow slider.

It looks as though at some time someone took off the back plate and one of the nuts is a replacement.

The clock works but runs fast. I have not tried to adjust fast/slow slider. It also has an uneven tick. Like tictock... tictock, instead of tic tock toc tock. It needs an adjustment.

Please understand that I can not guarantee that a clock will continue to run. It is being sold "As Is" with no warranty or guarantee of accuracy. I also have no way to know how the clock is handled upon arrival. For these reasons, I do not accept returns.

The case features a man and a woman leaning over a heart, kissing. Everything is on a base that reads "Sweethearts" along the bottom.

It looks like when it was made, the manufacturer had the option of this being fitted with a lamp. There is a filled post behind their heads and there is an undrilled spot where a cord would go. I suppose it could still be made into a lamp if wanted.

The clock case is made of pot metal and does not attract a magnet. Pot metal is a term that refers to alloys that consist of inexpensive, low-melting point metals used to make fast, inexpensive castings. It is typically made of aluminum, tin, lead, and copper, and may contain other elements such as zinc, iron, cadmium, and magnesium. It is a soft metal and shows some cracks as can be seen in the photos.

It is painted a cream color which shows numerous scratches and chips.

This clock would make fun addition to any novelty clock or burlesque collection! Maybe you know someone who would enjoy this as a gift? Why not bid now?!
