From an era when silver was scarce and this ‘emergency’ coinage was put in general circulation by the Bank of England.
There were many copies made during this time but I think this one is genuine. It seems to have all the appearance of a silver coin with a few bumps and many scratches and nice detail. But I can’t be totally sure. It may also be a contemporary re-strike. Please judge from photos.
The low purchase price on this coin reflects the uncertainties outlined above and the relatively poor condition.
Please judge quality from the photos and have in mind all of the above… I’ve tried to be as honest and as clear as possible.
