Literally translated means carrot cloth, the name derived from German farm workers who travelled from Germany and had their belongings and tools to harvest carrots in these cloths. The noble picked up on the patterns and made them fashionable with Kashmir patterns hence the paisley design. These cloths became a status symbol and were widely used for decorative purpose. Used behind a coat rack in a triangle form to keep the chalk from the coats, used as table cloths/ runners and wall decorations.
