We always have large stocks of used metal 10.5" NAB reels for sale - we currently have over 600 in stock. We do not make any attempt to clean them up. With care and time it is usually possible to polish them up and remove some marks but given the volumes we deal with, this is too time consuming for us. Unless it is done very carefully it is possible to damage the surface and any logos, so we prefer to sell them as they are with a very honest description of their condition and leave the rest to you!  Our grade definitions below and our example photos will give you a clear view of what to expect within each grade. 

All the reels we sell are 1/4 inch. 

Scotch Metal 10.5 Inch NAB Reel for Tape Recorder - Used Condition - Grade C

The first photo is to show you the design of the reels in this batch - they are exactly the same both sides. The photos that follow (2 to 10) show the sort of defects that a reel is likely to have in this category. Each reel will not have all of these - they are examples. But reels in Grade C will show this sort of marks from use.

All reels are supplied in ex studio boxes - see photos 11 & 12 for examples. They will be sturdy and offer good protection but will have studio labels or writing on them.

We do not charge for postage and packing within the UK. We send reels by second class post or courier, depending on the weight, and we dispatch within 2 working days of payment.  

Buyers from outside the UK must get a postage price from us before buying please

OUR GRADES 

Grade A - Reels in excellent condition with only very minor signs of use. Close examination might show a few very small marks but overall these reels appear to have had little use and have been treated with care. Any logos will be unmarked and there will be no sticker residues or discolouration. 

Grade B - Reels in good used condition. There will be some signs of use, such as small scuffs, marks, or scratches but there will be nothing significant and the reels will look great in use. Any logos will be unmarked and there will be no sticker residues or discolouration.  

Grade C - Reels in used condition. They will have marks, such as scratches or scuffs from use but no significant damage. They will be fully usable and look good on a deck but they have clearly been well used. The logos may have some marks and reels may have stickers or sticker residue (which may be removable with care). 

Grade D - Reels that work but have clearly seen a busy life in a studio environment! They will have lots of marks from use, and/or writing or sticky labels on them. A great way to get spare reels at low cost. Some of our customers apply vinyl wrap or spray paint them - we have seen some amazing results!
