First edition, 1896, of The Queen's London.
370 pages of black and white plates showing the streets, buildings, parks and scenery of London during reign of Queen Victoria. All the usual suspects (Houses of Parliament, Nelson's Column, Westminster Abbey, etc.) are all present and correct, but what makes this book particularly interesting are the pictures of the less "touristy" locations such as the inside of Newgate Prison, the Mile End Road, old Billingsgate Market, and so on.
Book is
in very good condition. Clean throughout: no foxing, tea-stains,
grubby fingerprints, or anything of that ilk. Boards, spine, and
text-block, all good and solid. Hinges good.
Some shelf-wear and corner-bumping as is almost inevitable in a book of this age.
