Audi TT Roadster Mk 1 8N BAM 2001

For sale my Mk1 TT roadster. This was my father's car, which I bought in 2021, which I subsequently sold to a mate in 2025, who then returned it to me this year. As much as I’d like to keep it, I can’t, I have too many other projects. This car is a bit tatty bodywork-wise with a number of scrapes and the wheels would definitely benefit from a refurb. The roof doesn’t work but you can hear a click, which means it’s probably the motor. All the windows etc work so not the body control module. The drivers window sticks and feels like it needs a regulator.

Here are the good things:

The car is mechanically sound.

Gearbox and clutch are good.

Engine is good - timing belt done twice between 2021 and 2025. Has had the valve seals done (and new head gasket and bolts), had a new water pump in 2021 and a new timing chain variator and belt tensioner (twice). Valve cover has been sprayed gold. Has silicon boost pipes.

Interior is pretty good, some wear and tear nothing dramatic, seats heat up nicely and heater works. Aircon could benefit from a regas.

Four good tyres all round.

Digital display is good - dashpod has been changed twice - on MOT history you will see mileage has changed, this is because the dashpod has been replaced with used units and recoded by a VAG specialist - I have receipts in the document wallet to evidence this and Serge at VAStech in Ashtead will have the details on his computer if you need to check.

It has had PAS pipes and front control arms done as well as new dogbone mount.

It’s had the CCV parts replaced as well as thermostat housing.

The file contains tons of history.

It hasn’t been remapped (yet).

Bad bits:

There is no undertray. Personally I find this makes maintenance very easy.

Roof doesn’t work, probably motor.

Drivers window may need a new regulator.

There’s a bit of a groan from the front left - driveshaft had been replaced, doesn’t sound like bearing.

Bodywork has scuffs on several panels.

There is a minor oil leak, I think it’s the rocker cover gasket.

In summary, if you want cheap summer fun with 225bhp this is it. With a little bit of work it will be a really nice example. Sold as seen with no warranty implied. £100 deposit within 24h of end of auction secures car. Sub ten feedback don’t bid! Too many scammers. Buy it now is buy it now!

Forgot to add: the car has retrofitted cruise control, which works really well. I’ve used the car to commute and got 40mpg. Cruise was fitted by VAS Technical (when they were VAG Tech in Surbiton). There is also a remote control on off switch for the battery.
