Up for auction is this very original Cox 049 Sure Start ex RTF, Car / Buggy as produced by Cox Industries some 60 odd years ago. This particular example is still attached to the original impeller, mounting bracket, flywheel and 12 tooth Pinion.

Nothing is bent, broken, or butchered and it appears to be in excellent used condition.There are  no witness marks on the bulkhead, and I do not believe it has had any use. I do know that it resided in a large collection for most of its life. 

All head fins are intact and in excellent used condition, as are the integral cooling fins and Crankcase generally. The rear mount/ backplate is in excellent used condition. 

Also included in this sale is 1 x Needle Valve and Spring.(NOS)

Compression is very good and it does not  bleed off if rolled over slowly. It is not  “gummed up” and could be returned to service immediately. However a thorough internal clean would be advised.

The glow head shows connectivity when tested.

Please note this is the two rectangular exhaust port version, apparently more powerful than the slit exhaust version.

All in all a very honest used example of this iconic 049 from one of America’s most successful and prolific  model engine manufacturers.
