Pour-over coffee and the paper coffee filter were invented in 1908 by a German homemaker named Amalie Auguste Melitta Bentz. Frustrated by bitter, over-extracted coffee and messy grounds left behind by traditional percolators, she experimented with household items to create a cleaner, smoother cup.

Condition

There are two small tabs or "nubs" on the underside of the lid (officially called flanges or locators) whose purpose is to lock into the rim of the teapot so the lid stays securely in place and doesn't fall off when you pour your tea.

Both of the nubs, flanges or locators are partially damaged as illustrated in photos.

The lid however still stays in place while pouring.

Otherwise, no chips, cracks, flea bites, crazing, staining, discoloration or other evident damage flaws, or repair.

Pre-owned items are used and show varying amounts of wear.

For this reason, we provide many pictures.
