Available for your collection is this original late 19th-century Carte de Visite featuring a detailed vignette portrait of a distinguished gentleman.
Subject Details: The subject sports a prominent, thick period mustache and neatly styled hair. He is dressed in an era-authentic heavy woolen suit jacket with wide contrast piping or trim along the lapel edges, a matching vest, a crisp white collar, and a dark necktie accented by an oval tie clasp or stickpin.
Photographer Studio & Imprint: The bottom front of the mount is cleanly stamped in black text: "Ch. A. Miller, Columbia, PA." The reverse side features beautiful ornamental, flowing script typography reading: "Ch. A. Miller, Photographer, 248 Walnut Street, Cor. Third Street, Columbia, Pa. Negatives preserved 6 months." Charles A. Miller was a well-documented photographer operating out of Lancaster County, PA during the Gilded Age.
Condition Notes: In excellent antique condition. The albumen print displays wonderful clarity and deep sepia tones. The front mount displays mild age-toning and light surface foxing/spotting primarily along the bottom border. The reverse side is exceptionally clean with minor age spotting near the bottom edge. No heavy creases or tears.
A fantastic addition for collectors of Pennsylvania regional history, Lancaster County studio photography, or historic Gilded Age fashion portraits.
