Civil War CDV of Maj. Gen. Henry Wager Halleck. Known as "Old Brains," he served as General-in-Chief of the Armies of the United States and from 1862 to 1864 served as chief of staff. A West Point graduate, he also attended Union College, and helped in the admission of California as a state.
