This very nice 3 rail AC HO gauge locomotive by Marklin is 3449 a DR BR 104 / E04 electric locomotive DR Green livery with the running number 204 001-2.
The E 04 series , later DB series 104 (from 1968) or DR series 204 (from 1970), was an electric locomotive developed for use in express train traffic and used from 1933 by the German State Railroad Company . Originally developed for use in central Germany , it was used after the Second World War by both the Deutsche Bundesbahn and the Deutsche Reichsbahn . By 1982, the last locomotives of this series were taken out of scheduled service.
The 104s, which were actually designed for use in central Germany, were regarded by the Osnabrück locomotive crew as exotic southern Germans because they had to be taken to the Munich-Freimann repair shop for revisions . They were therefore given nicknames such as "dumpling locomotive" or "mountain goat".
In the summer of 1980, road number 104 018-7 was used in a shared service with class 140 machines . The locomotive was then used in front of special trains until its Z position in October 1981 and finally retired on January 28, 1982
Five train in preservation but none are operational.
The loco is in good condition as you can see in the pictures, the locomotive is tested and runs with working lights. We have tested it on rollers both in the forwards and backwards directions. A complete external visual inspection has shown the overall condition is good, please see the pictures in the gallery for a good look at the loco. The box is in good if slightly shelf worn condition.
Overall this is a really nice scale locomotive and would look fantastic on a layout.
Do please have a look at our other listings, we typically have various HO and OO locos on offer as well as an extensive range of imported N gauge locos and other items.
Note: we do recommend all locos are cleaned & serviced, as they have some age to them even if the quality looks at the highest level (fairly standard advice for all locos!).
