Adafruit NeoTrellis M4 motherboard with SAMD51, 3938
The NeoTrellis M4 is an all-in-one board that features USB, NeoPixel, elastomer pads and audio support. The heart of the NeoTrellis M4 is a SAMD51 Cortex M4 microprocessor with a clock speed of 120 MHz. The chipset not only supports Arduino and CircuitPython, but also provides hardware floating point support, two D/A converters (DAC) and many other functions such as I2C, ADC, DMA and many more! The chip has 512 KB flash memory and 192 KB SRAM and is therefore ideally equipped for using CircuitPython. There is also an 8 MB flash memory on the board to store additional files or audio clips.
With native USB support, the NeoTrellis M4 is ideal for implementing MIDI USB devices. Alternatively, the NeoTrellis with its real analog output can also be used completely independently and not just as an input device.
The SAMD51 chipset provides two 12-bit D/A converters, the outputs of which are on the 'left' and 'right' of the 3.5mm jack plug. Since the pins of the D/A converter can also be used as an A/D converter, the jack plug can also be used as a line-in input. With a 12-bit resolution, the audio quality is sufficient for sound effects and audio clips. The jack plug has another pin, which is typically used by microphones in headsets and is connected to an analog input.
The NeoTrellis M4 has plenty of controls. A matrix of 4x8 elastomer pads provides 32 buttons, each illuminated with a NeoPixel RGB LED. The button states can be queried at the same time and the NeoPixel LEDs can be controlled with a resolution of 24-bit. Interactive applications can be implemented using the on-board ADXL343 3-axis accelerometer from Analog Devices. The board also has a STEMMA or Grove connector socket with two pins that can be used as I2C, ADC or UART.
Please note that this is just the mainboard. The two Silicone elastomer 4x4 pads and that NeoTrellis M4 housing you can purchase separately.
