The 732 Squadron (2. Staffel) of the Luftwaffe was famously equipped with the McDonnell Douglas F-4F Phantom II. Based at Pferdsfeld Air Base (as part of JaboG 35), the squadron relocated to Laage Air Base in 1997, where they flew alongside MiG-29s as part of Jagdgeschwader 73 "Steinhoff". The Phantom era for 732 Squadron ended in March 2002 when they retired their F-4s to convert to Eurofighter Typhoons.
