A vintage authentic homemade folk art Knitted Thumb Stall
for finger protection while casting. The Pflueger box measures about 2.5” x 2”
x 1”, unmarked except for a 1937 inspection date, and was likely matched with
the stall for convenience since commercial manufacturers were not known to have
made knitted stalls. Knitted thumb
stalls were typically homemade for surf casters and distance anglers. Google AI indicates this stall was made from
worsted wool yarn, with vibrant colors available between the 1940s and 1970s, and
it was knit in stockinette stitch, with rounded decreases near the top and a finished
brim on the bottom edge. This item ships from Longview, TX. Combined shipping
is available for like items from Longview that end on the same date.
Please see the photos for condition details. Buyer pays for USPS Priority Mail shipping, plus insurance if desired.
Proceeds from this auction go to the Carolyn Corwin estate. If you would be interested in learning more about ORCA and reel collecting, or possibly joining, visit our ORCA website.
