Stunning vintage 1920s-1930s R&G Co. "La Mode" compact. This elegant black enamel case features classic geometric borders in gold and a gorgeous white guilloche center with hand-painted pink rose and blue forget-me-not floral motif. The gold geometric Greek key border on the black enamel case includes repeating swastika motifs (this was a common decorative element in 1920s–early 1930s Art Deco design, used as a symbol of good luck long before its association with Nazi Germany).
