Polish Flint


This listing is for a rough slab of flint from the Swietokrzyskie Mountains in Poland. This was formed in the Jurassic period,160-180 million years ago. Neolithic people in this region mined and used to make early weapons - knives, arrowheads, and axes as early as 4000 BC. It's known for it's distinctive banding, swirling patterns, and dark to light tones of creams, browns, greys, and beige. This is a beautiful piece with a high contrast pattern. 

This is a beautiful piece with a high contrast pattern but has some flaws.  This slab has several fractures.  The dotted or dashed lines represent what appears to be surface level fracturing.  The solid black line shows a fracture that will absolutely break on the line.  I do not have knapping recommendations for this listing because I'm not certain how the fracture will affect knapping.  Because of the flaws and potential problems I'm dropping the price of this one.  Its still a large high contrast piece that will yield multiple cabs, but there are issues to work around. 

6.5-7mm thickness - measured at several spots and got different readings.
