Australian $2 dollar Coin Collection 2012-2026 in Folder. 76 coins (no RED POPPY). With New Insert Sheet.
There is NO RED POPPY in this collection. (I have placed a removable piece of dark blue coloured card here to make this clear).
This collection includes the 2026 Dawn Service coin, and the two 2026 Bluey coloured coins. (I have yet to update my photos to show the two Bluey coins).
This large collection has 76 coins. That's just over three rolls worth of coins! Recently, there has been a surge in price of the 2023 Vegemite coins, and to a lesser extent, the 2023 Matildas and the 2024 NRL&NRLW coins. I believe that this is in response to the mintage figures published in the RAM's annual reports, which suggest that only 1 million of each was minted. A bit of caution is advisable here as these numbers are in fact the number of coins that the RAM has released into circulation, not the actual number that have been made. So the total number actually minted will not be finalised for a few years. Unfortunately, this has necessarily led to a large increase in the cost of this collection.
Apart from the 2012 Red Poppy, this $2 coin collection is a complete set of all the coloured and commemorative $2 coins that the Royal Australian Mint has released into general circulation up to the present date.
The strength of this collection is that it has many of the more expensive coins in UNCIRCULATED condition. For instance the 2015 red Anzac Cove, 2015 orange Flanders Field, 2017 Napier-Waller Mosaic, 2017 Rosemary, 2018 Eternal Flame, 2018 Armistice, 2019 Repatriation, 2019 Police, 2020 WWII, 2020 Firefighter's, 2021 Indigenous Military Service, the 2022 Honey Bee and the new 2025 Torres Strait Islander Flag coin, 2025 80th Anniversary of WWII Poppy Wreath coin, and the 2026 Dawn Service coin are all uncirculated.
There are 58 brand new uncirculated coins in this collection, leaving only 18 circulated in this set of 76 coins.
This collection is housed in the latest (2012-2024) version of the YellowMonkee Two Dollar Collector's Folder along with the matching insert sleeve.
To remove all ambiguity, and to make things easier for buyers, I will only classify coins as either strictly uncirculated or circulated. (I will not con buyers by using a subjective aUNC definition, which "kinda means it's a nice circulated one". Coins from bags and, preferably, rolls are uncirculated. Coins that come from change are circulated. End of.)
The circulated coins in this collection have not been damaged, do not contain any green patches of corrosion, and are in good condition. The uncirculated coins have been sourced from RAM rolls, or in the case of those released through Woolworths from RAM bags.
The best way of assessing the quality of the coins is to examine the photographs carefully. These are really the best item description. This is EXACTLY the set of coins you will receive.

I would be very happy to answer any questions you might have regarding these coins.
This would make a great entry-level collection or for teaching children the principles of coin collecting.

(Big hint for all buyers - to assess the quality of ANY $2 collection offered for sale – first find a single photo showing all the coins together. Zoom in and look at the bottom two rows of coins on the right-hand side. These are the newest coins and should have the most lustre or shine. Now look at the top two rows on the left, and move down the left-hand side. If these are uncirculated, they should have the same shine as the bottom two rows on the right. The 2016 Changeover coin is particularly telling - because of the large flat areas in its field, even lightly circulated examples of this look relatively worn. You should now be able to tell roughly the condition of the coin set you are purchasing. If the coins are not in a folder, find a photograph showing all the coins together.
Also check exactly which coins you are buying ... starting with the most expensive eg 2013 Coronation, 2014 Green Dove, 2015 Anzac Cove, 2015 Flanders field ... and whether they're uncirculated or not.
Remember, too, that if you are sent something that doesn't match the pictures, or the item description, then you get a full refund. NO cost to you, and NO arguments. EBay's rules.
Be wary of anyone that won't show you an actual photo, or who says that the photos are just generic. You want to SEE what you are buying.)
How many coins should be in a collection?
Happily for buyers, there are now a wide range of $2 collections offered for sale, in a variety of formats. The question is, which one to buy and how many coins should there be in a collection? Whilst the final choice is a matter of personal preference, it is useful to know just how many coloured $2 coins the RAM has released.
1. There are 77 coins that have been released into general circulation, either directly through the Royal Australian Mint, Australia Post, Woolworths, or the Anaconda stores.
2. There are 97 coins if we now include the NCLT (Non-Circulating Legal Tender) coins. These are coins minted for the collector market, and include such things as the Indigenous Infant coins (from four of the RAM baby sets), the six Tooth Fairy coins and the two 2025 Australian Open envelope privy mark coins, and the five Bluey $2 coins.
(NB - the RAM actually introduced 15 distinct Bluey coins on 6th May! I refuse to get sucked into this marketing ploy which has five coins in a tube, and the same five coins on cards with a privy mark etc. I will include the two coloured coins in circulation, plus the five in a tube. Seven Bluey coins are more than enough for me.)
3. There are 99 coins if you now add in the C mintmark 2022 Red Poppy and the C mintmark 2023 Anniversary of the Vietnam War coin. In both instances, there was no corresponding non-C-mint marked coin, and so this is the only way to obtain these designs.
4. There are a grand total of 152 coloured coins if you include all of the C-mint marks, the envelope privy mark 2025 Australian Open coins, the two fluorescent yellow 2025 Australian Open coins, 2026 Matildas coin plus the 2018 30th Anniversary folder and the 2023 35th Anniversary folder.
Please note that these are just numbers. A perfectly respectable, coloured $2 coin collection might be just those with sporting themes. Part of the fun of coin collecting is picking a theme and then gradually adding to it. All of our coin collections are, after all, works in progress.
A quick word on costs - I do my best to keep the price of these mixed collections as low as possible. However, with such a large set of coins, the cost has to rise by only 50c a coin (or $12 per roll or bag) for the price of the collection to increase by over $30.
Additionally, there have been some recent releases, which would appear to have lower mintage figures based on the RAM's recent annual reports. The coins in this group are the 2024 Vegemite series, the 2024 Socceroos series, the 2024 NRL & NRLW coins. Each of these looks as though they might have a mintage of 1 million. This is the same mintage as the 2013 Coronation coin, and I think there are some people who are hopeful of these coins reaching the same price point. It's therefore difficult to source these 8 coins at a reasonable price even in circulated condition. Unfortunately, this has resulted in a significant increase in the price of this collection.
Please note - there is another seller trying to copy the peculiar yellow background of my 1970s kitchen.
