Since 1941, generations of coffee lovers all over the world have been brewing perfect coffee with CHEMEX.  Each carafe is inspected, polished and hand tied.  The ingenious bump is a testament to the ingenuity and meticulous design that has gone into the creation of this iconic coffee maker. It serves multiple functions, from heat distribution to sediment separation, while also contributing to the structural stability and aesthetic mid-century modernist appeal of the Chemex. 

The carafe measures 9.25" tall.  It is made of high quality, durable borosilicate glass.... the same type used for labware.  This type of glass does not impart any chemicals or flavors into the coffee. A good cup of joe has a recommendation to use 48 grams fresh ground coffee per 800 ml. of water.
