The Fischer Quintuplets were born in Aberdeen, South Dakota, on September 14, 1963. They were the first quintuplets to survive after the birth in 1934 of the Dionne quintuplets of Ontario, Canada. The Fischer Quints were born to Andrew and Mary Ann Fischer who already had five children at the time. Andrew was 38 and Mary Ann was 30. They learned they were having five babies just three days before the births. The quints were born two months prematurely and were delivered naturally.
Madame Alexander tried to get the rights for these babies, but were refused, as were other doll companies, since the family did not want to engage in publicity like the Dionne Quintuplets. So, The Alexander Company made the dolls, and simply called them Original "Quintuplets." They were made in 1964 only, and very hard to find them together in a full set.
Each is 8" high, all jointed vinyl in the Ginnette style. They have molded brown hair, blue sleep eyes, molded lashes, open 'nurser' mouths & rosy cheeks and cute baby bodies. Each doll wears its original white flannel diaper with pin. All dolls are wrapped in a pink flannel blanket.
The Box is in good vintage condition. It has its normal wear and tear but it’s sturdy, and still has its Original cellofane and gold "Quintuplets" label on top of box. Please see photos.
