Vintage Remembrance 8 Day Desk Clock 22 Year Perpetual Calendar in Original Box
Up for bid and for your consideration is this vintage Remembrance 8 day, desk clock with 22 year perpetual Calander. Swiss made with seven jewel movement.
This clock is very eye catching and would be at home on an executive desk or in a casual office setting! To you small clock collectors it would be a wonderful addition to your collection!
Here are the details:
It is about 3-1/2 inches wide, approx. 4 inches deep and 1-5/8 inches tall.
This clock was given as a service award and is engraved on the front panel: "Lee Arnold In appreciation of loyal and devoted service The Beaumont Country Club". This could probably be covered with a commemorative plaque of your own or possibly ground out and polished.
The dial is cream colored and is marked "Remembrance", has an 8 in a curved corner triangle and "Seven Jewels", below the 12 position.
It is also marked Swiss near the bottom of the dial under the six position.
The numbers are represented by raised brass numbers at 12, 2, 4, 8 and 10, and raised dashes in the shape of droplets for the other 5 minute increments. The dash at the 3 position is missing.
It has a calendar window is where the 6 would be. The months are set from the back by a pair of sliders which move the month numbers so they line up under the proper days.
The winder and set knob are both present. There is also a fast/slow screw adjustment.
This is a very heavy clock mounted in an angular brass case, made to sit on a desk. The brushed brass is in worn condition with wear and marks commensurate with age. It could use a good polishing!
The back of the clock is marked with an 8 in a curved corner triangle and a number (serial number?) 985789. There are also the numbers 83 336 on one of the inside sides. There are also instructions for setting the calendar, which read: "Set month under year by sliding knobs. 22 year automatic calendar. Use red Jan Feb for leap years Patent pending".
There is also a block of years starting '50 to '71. And below that, an opening where you see the months, which move with the sliders to set the calendar. Even though it is way past 1971, you can still properly set the calendar for the current months.
Also, based on the years included, I would date this clock at 1949 or 1950.
The clock does not work. It tries to run, sometimes it will run for just a few seconds, sometimes maybe a minute. I think the movement could use a good cleaning! The mainspring is intact and wound tight.
Please understand that this clock is being sold "As Is" with no warranty or guarantees. Any clocks I sell are vintage and likely needs to, at least, have the movement cleaned and /or oiled. I also have no way to know how the clock is handled upon arrival. For these reasons, I do not accept returns.
This clock comes in its original faux leather, alligator print travel box.
The box dimensions are 4-3/8 inches wide, 2-7/8 inches tall and 5-1/8 inches deep.
It also comes with its original pamphlet which includes a guarantee certificate, tips for better performance and clock features.
This clock would make a great accessory to an executive desk or as a finishing touch to your home decor! Maybe you know someone who would enjoy this as a gift? Why not bid now?!
