OMICRON® Glass Fiber filters are manufactured from pure Borosilicate Glass Fibers and are available in a wide range of nominal pore sizes. These filters have extremely low pressure drop, making them an excellent choice as a pre-filter for fluids that have high viscous and high dust holding capacity. Target applications include salt, sugar, sera, tissue lysates, protein solutions, and environmental samples, like soil and ground water, where there is an elevated level of suspended or un-dissloved particles. The production process of OMICRON® Glass Fiber Filters has been validated with an accredited registered body to ISO 9001:2015 Quality System Standards.

Features and Benefits

  • Biologically inert
  • High dirt loading capacity
  • Available with Acrylic binders
  • Low resistance with high filtration efficiency
  • Hydrophilic material membrane
  • Low Extractable
Technical Applications
  • Liquid clarification of viscous biological solutions
  • Solids quantification of heavily loaded fine particulate suspensions
  • Clarification of Particulate Laden Solutions
  • Used in LSC techniques where high loading capacity is required
Other Applications

  • Environmental monitoring. Collecting airborne particulates (TSP) or pre-filtering samples before pushing them through finer filters like 0.45 µm or membrane filters.
  • Water and wastewater testing. It’s great as a prefilter for turbid samples in EPA-style methods, especially when you don’t want your main membrane to clog instantly.
  • Industrial hygiene. Sampling dust in factories, labs, cleanrooms, or around equipment where fine particulate matters.
  • Analytical chemistry prep. Removing particulates before HPLC, GC, ICP, TOC, or metals analysis. Labs often use 1.0 µm GF as a cleanup step to keep instruments happy.
  • Microbiology sample cleanup. Not for capturing bacteria, but for getting rid of debris before running microbial counts or DNA extraction.
  • Food and beverage QC. Clarifying juices, syrups, fermentation broths, or beverage samples that are too hazy for direct analysis.
  • Pharmaceutical and biotech work. Filtering cell culture media, harvesting cell debris, or clarifying protein solutions.
  • Resin-or particulate-heavy chemical processes. Stabilizing flow in chemical manufacturing by removing chunks before downstream filtration.
