The plot of the Glorification of the Cross recalls the main goal of the Incarnation - the salvation of the human race through the atoning sacrifice. The center of the composition is a cross with a crown, erected on Calvary with a cave in which the skull of Adam is located. On the sides of the cross are the archangels Michael and Gabriel, carrying the instruments of the Passion - a spear, a cane and a sponge, and at the top - seraphim, cherubs and allegorical images of the sun and the moon.
