The RG j.custom model, packed with meticulously crafted specifications for technical players!
The concept of j.custom is very simple:
"A guitar that uses carefully selected materials and is assembled by Japan's top skilled craftsmen, always pursuing high playability and superior sound." This has remained unchanged since its inception.
Based on this concept, the j.custom is Ibanez's top-of-the-line electric guitar, manufactured in a domestic workshop to meet the diverse styles, preferences, and demands of guitarists at a high level.
■RG j.custom Super Wizard AS (Asymmetric) Neck Shape
This neck is constructed from 5 pieces of maple and wenge wood, with ample consideration given to strength while aiming for a natural sound.
It's an asymmetrical neck shape based on the ultra-thin Super Wizard shape, which pursues ease of playing and thinness.
Maintaining the same neck thickness of 17mm at the nut and 19mm at the 12th fret, the neck is rounded towards the bass string side (6th string side), providing a more secure thumb pivot and enhancing playability for technical techniques such as wide stretches and sweep picking.
The neck back features a Velvetouch finish, which feels comfortable in the hand, like a guitar that has been played for many years.
■Rosewood Fretboard
The rosewood fretboard provides a balanced and solid tone with prominent midrange frequencies.
■j.custom fret edge treatment
This custom treatment rounds the edges to a spherical shape.
This process, which requires skill to create a spherical shape and maintain consistent form, is meticulously performed by hand on each individual fret, only possible for highly skilled craftsmen.
You will surely appreciate the smooth, stress-free feel when making large changes in left-hand position.
■ Flame Maple (4mm) Top & Alder Body
The alder body, known for its balanced, bright tone and rich sustain, is topped with a beautiful AAA-grade flame maple top.
■ Deep and beveled lower horn scoop
The body back and the cutaway on the treble string side (1st string side) are deeply scooped to enhance playability in the higher positions.
■ Chambered body
To meet the demands of players who want to lighten the guitar without compromising the acoustic properties of the wood, several 3cm holes have been drilled into the front of the body.
It's a small detail, but it definitely contributes to weight reduction.
■ DiMarzio Pickups
Equipped with PAF7 pickups, a 7-string version of DiMarzio's classic PAF pickups.
These pickups, reminiscent of classic humbuckers from the late 1950s, offer a clear, low-power sound characterized by mild highs, clear lows, and an open, warm tone.
■ Coil Tap Switch
Functions with both the front and rear humbucker pickups, expanding sound variations.
■ Lo-Pro Edge Tremolo Bridge
Equipped with the original Lo-Pro Edge tremolo, a low-profile design.
The unit is designed to be as low as possible, and the fine tuners are positioned at the rear, minimizing the possibility of accidental tuning deviations during playing.

■ Tilted Jack Cavity
Unlike typical side-jack guitars, the woodworking around the jack cavity is carved outwards from the strap pin direction, into the body. This is a design feature that secures the cable to the strap to prevent accidental disconnection.
■Switchcraft Jack
Features a Switchcraft pipe jack, renowned for its robust construction and minimal trouble.
■GOTOH Strap Lock
Equipped with a GOTOH strap lock for easy one-touch attachment and detachment.
■Easy Access Control Knobs
The control knobs are recessed into the body top to minimize interference with the hand during tremolo use, while remaining easy to turn.
