1963 Fleer #29 Jimmy Piersall EX/NM Washington Senators Outfielder. Piersall was born November 14, 1929 in Waterbury, Connecticut. He made his Major League debut on September 7, 1950 for the Boston Red Sox. He spent the 1951 season with Boston's Minor League teams in Birmingham and Louisville. The flamboyant outfielder returned to the "Big Leagues" and spent the next 7 seasons with Boston. He earned 2 All-Star selections (1954 & 1956). Plagued by mental problems and a propensity for altercations on and off the field, he was traded on December 2, 1958 to the Cleveland Indians. After 3 seasons in Cleveland, he was dealt to the Senators. On May 23rd, 1963, they sold his contract to the New York Mets. During the season, he was released. He was signed by the Los Angeles/California Angels on July 28th 1963. He spent nearly 4 seasons with them making his final Major League appearance for them on May 1, 1967. Later, he was inducted into the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame. This card fits into a higher grade set. The card has NO CREASES, SHARP CORNERS, NICE GLOSS, and a CLEAN BACK. Very Nice. See Pictures.
