Rocky Butte Picture Jasper


This listing is for a rough slab of Rocky Butte Picture Jasper from the Owyhee region of Oregon. This is an older piece obtained from a lapidary collector, date unknown. This type of jasper is known for its webbing and mottling, it's beautiful colors - reds, browns, greens, blues, and yellows. It is known to be a hard jasper with a MOHS of about 7, and will take a nice polish. The many different looks of Rocky Butte make a variety of unique cabochons. 

This is a really unique piece of Rocky Butte. It looks like a mix of Rocky Butte and Owyhee War Eagle. It's also got orbs...or flying saucers, or black olives? You be the judge!  In any case, this one will make some interesting cabochons.  Known flaws circled on both sides - a rocky inclusion on one side,  a small pit on the other side.   It can also be polished to use as a display specimen.
