Burgundy half calf over marbled boards, with gilt title ('History of Ireland") and six gilt bandlines to spine. Light scuffing to boards with rubbing to board edges. Repairs to front and rear hinges; spine and hinges tight. No preliminary pages except title page. Previous owner's name, dated 1899, handwritten to front pastedown; another previous owner's inkstamp, dated 1852, to both title pages. Two newspaper clippings laid in on page four of Parsons, Volume I. Pasted paper residue to rear pastedown. Light tanning to pages. Good Plus.

Thomas Wright was a founder of the Camden Society, the British Archaeological Association and the Shakespeare Society. His detailed book on Irish history was first published in 1848-52. In this edition, Volumes I and II are published in 1851, and Volume III in 1852.

Benjamin Parsons (1797–1855) was an English congregational minister. He was known as a political campaigner who involved his congregation. His book "The Greatness of the British Empire," published in 1851, contains lectures on English history delivered at Ebley, Stroud, and Cheltenham.
