Hinges starting, but textblock is solid. Considerable foxing throughout the book, yet definitely readable. Pages supple. Binding strong. Good.

It is said that Paine, once fervently admired by Cheetham who was quite taken by Paine's his ideas and ideals, fell out with Cheetham, due to some excessive editing of Paine's articles. Cheetham became embittered and sought and found his revenge in this vituperative and wholly ungenerous biographical portrait.
