Description: Leather-bound. Two volumes, large quartos [11x9 inches] [24], 532+ 502 pages. Full polished leather, red and black spine labels, five raised bands to spine. Gilt seal of the Society of the Writers to the Signet on front and rear covers of each volume.

Both front boards detached, but present. Boards to both volumes are fairly bright with scattered small stains and some areas of darkening. Volume II has cracked spine that splits the volume into two (at page 248/249, about half way through the volume). Rubbing and chafing to spines, with chips to spine ends. Corners just showing. Label and some ink musical notation to front pastedown to both volumes. Text clean, pages supple with some scattered foxing, mostly to prelims and title pages. Bindings tight. Includes the appendix to original papers. Poor.
