A handsome pair of antique 19th-century French silvered bronze candlesticks in the Louis XV style, with richly modeled rococo bases, scrolling foliate ornament and shaped baluster-form stems.
Each measures approximately 9 3/4” high with bases approximately 5 7/8” across. Combined weight is a substantial 4 lb 7 oz.
Both retain an attractive aged silvered surface with minor age-related rubbing, tarnish and surface variation consistent with antique use. The undersides retain old hardware and each appears to bear a small impressed mark that reads approximately “LU 355.” The mark has not been identified.
No major damage observed. Please examine all photographs closely, including the undersides and marks, as they form an important part of the condition description.
A substantial and decorative pair with strong French Rococo character.
