A rare early Worcester porcelain leaf shaped pickle tray, very finely potted, and painted in the two-peony rock bird pattern. Workman's mark to the underside, c.1754-1760.
Reference: Worcester Blue & White Porcelain 1751-1790, Branyan, French & Sandon, section I.C.10. The pattern is described as uncommon, and only found on pickle dishes, either of scallop shell shape, and more rarely of this leaf form.
It measures 8.7cm (3 3/8") wide by 10.7cm (4 3/16") long and 3cm (1 1/8") high.
Condition is excellent. There is a 1mm nick in the glaze to the underside of the rim but no other damage, repair or restoration, and minimal handling wear.
