Antique Victorian Blue/Turquoise Opalescent Glass Cruet
attributed to either Northwood or Hobbs, Brockunier & Company. The pattern is
known as “Ribbed Opal Lattice” or “Windows”. It features a distinctive light
blue/turquoise that transitions to white opalescence, with a clear faceted
stopper. Cruets like this were typically
produced in the late 19th century, around the 1880’s to 1890’s
This particular piece with its blue/turquoise hue and
intricate ribbed texture, exemplifies the aesthetic trends of the period,
combining practicality with decorative artistry.
It was difficult to obtain accurate color and opalescence in photographs. The photo of the cruet in the window is the most accurate.
Condition: Cruet is
in excellent condition no chips, cracks, or repairs. The stopper has a chip at the base that cannot
be seen when inserted and a manufacturing flaw or possibly a crack at the top. (see
las 2 photos). This may not be the original stopper.
Approximate measurements: 6.5” Tall with stopper, 5.25” Tall
without stopper, 3.25” Wide at the base, 11.3 Oz Weight.
