Henri I de Montmorency French manuscript document signed, dated 1577–1578. Likely an estate accounting record from the period of the French Wars of Religion. Written in period French secretarial hand with multiple dated entries and accounting annotations. Followed by an endorsement my Duke Montmorency that has been crossed, likely as part of an accounting or clerical action.

I have located two other Henri I de Montmorency signed documents and displayed them for comparison, and they are show here as well. The first is from Getty images. Note not only the similarity in the Montmorency signatures, but that the secretarial hand executing the body of the document is identical. The second comparison signature is from an auction listing. Please note that these last two images are for comparison purposes and are NOT part of the listing.

8.5" x 12", two small holes, Good to Very Good condition.
