50 years have passed since Gibson began guitar production in Nashville. To celebrate this milestone, the limited edition "Les Paul Music City Special - 50th Anniversary" model is a modern reinterpretation of two historical Gibson models, drawing much inspiration from the 1970s "Marauder" while also incorporating elements of the "Music City Jr."
For many years, the Marauder has been a favorite of various artists, from Adam Jones to Paul Stanley. This commemorative model pays homage to the early days of Gibson's production in Nashville and celebrates Gibson's 50-year history of crafting guitars for the world from Music City Nashville. While retaining its inherited character, it has been updated with modern features for enhanced comfort and playability.
It features a lightweight solid poplar body and a maple neck with a ProSlimTaper finish. The 22-fret fingerboard is made of striped ebony and features acrylic dot inlays. It allows for smooth playing, from chord playing in the lower positions to bending in the higher positions. All hardware is chrome-plated and includes a Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge, aluminum stopbar tailpiece, Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners, and an output jack plate cover. The black 5-ply pickguard houses two Gibson 70s Tribute humbuckers, with intuitive and comfortable control via master volume/tone and a 3-way selector.
The chrome hardware (Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge, aluminum stopbar tailpiece, Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners, etc.) and the 5-ply black pickguard create a visually striking look.
The gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish is available in three colors: ebony, wine red, and tobacco burst. Each guitar is fitted with a 50th-anniversary commemorative truss rod cover and comes with a premium softshell case.
