Historical Details and Meaning
Period: This specific style was introduced in the early 1900s (around 1912) and widely used during the First World War. It is assigned to military personnel who demonstrate above-average shooting skills.
It is the intermediate level of qualification, positioned between “Marksman” (base) and “Expert” (maximum).

Evolution: In 1958, the design of the USMC was modified by replacing the central target with the emblem of the Marine Corps (the eagle, the globe and the anchor).
