1808 Scottish Paternity Court Petition, signed by Charles Erskine of Shielfeld as the Sheriff-Substitute of Selkirkshire. He worked under Sir Walter Scott, who was a close friend. Erskine was also a Writer to the Signet, Baron Balie of Melrose.
