Onkyo TA-2760 – Precision with Dual Capstan of the Integra Series

Introducing the Onkyo TA-2760: a high-quality tape deck from Onkyo's acclaimed Integra series (approx. 1990-1991). Designed for the discerning listener, this deck combines a sophisticated dual capstan drive with the benefits of manual control.

The TA-2760 is a precise instrument designed for faithful playback and controlled recording.

The heart: The 3-motor dual capstan drive

The convincing performance of the TA-2760 is based on its proven and very stable drive mechanism. This drive principle is considered one of the most effective methods for tape transport.

  • The 3-engine concept: A system with three separate motors works inside, ensuring reliable operation.
  • Closed loop dual capstan: This is a key feature of the TA-2760. The tape is guided between two capstan shafts (pressure shafts). The advantage for you: This ensures a constant, even tape tension across the tape heads and isolates the tape from interference from the cassette. The result is synchronization fluctuations (Wow & Flutter) at a very low level and a stable sound.

Controlled recording: 3-head and manual Accubias

This deck gives you important tools for recording. It combines a 3-head assembly with a precise manual measurement option.

  • True back belt control (3-head): Thanks to the separate recording and playback heads (made of durable Sendust), you can check the recording directly during the process (“monitoring”). You hear the result that is written to the tape and can control the recording optimally.
  • Manual Accubias system: Instead of an automatic, the TA-2760 offers one manual "Accubias" control. This allows the user to precisely adjust the premagnetization (bias) by hand to the respective cassette in order to achieve an optimized frequency response.

Other technical features

  • Solid Integra Construction: The deck rests on a heavy, vibration-damping chassis with a sturdy aluminum front panel. This design reduces resonances and contributes to clean signal processing.
  • Dolby noise reduction & HX Pro: Dolby B and C are available for lower-noise recordings. The Dolby HX Pro system also ensures open high-frequency reproduction by dynamically adjusting the bias during recording.
  • Precise real-time counter: The digital counter shows the running time in minutes and seconds and makes it easier to precisely select tracks or time recordings.

Who is this deck a good choice for?

The Onkyo TA-2760 is aimed at the analog enthusiast who places high value on drive quality and appreciates full manual control over the recording process.

It is a suitable choice for you if you:

  • the high stability of a Dual capstan drive seek.
  • the function of the Rear belt control (3-head) want to use for your recordings.
  • the manual measurement (Accubias) prefer an automatic to exploit the sound potential of each band.

A convincing model from the Integra series for anyone who wants to seriously use the cassette medium.

Maintenance information

Cassette decks

As part of the maintenance of cassette drives, the entire drive mechanism is serviced. This includes, among other things, thorough cleaning, the replacement of vulnerable plastic parts and the treatment of certain components with application-specific grease or Oil. To ensure reliable function, the belts are replaced. The pressure rollers are carefully inspected and replaced if necessary.

After maintenance, each drive is calibrated using high-quality test cassettes (level, tape speed and azimuth (optimal reproduction of high frequencies)) and operated in a longer test run. We can sometimes determine the quality of the sound head by the recording quality of a high-frequency sine tone. We use this data to decide, among other things, whether the device is still suitable for sale.

Other activities include, for example, the demagnetization of the tape head, Dolby settings and settings for automatic tape measurement.
Depending on the device model, we take other aspects into account so that we are able to offer you a long-lasting device.

electronics

The electronics of the electrical devices are examined closely. Thanks to many years of experience, we can Fix type-specific vulnerabilities before an error occurs. The lifespan of certain devices can be increased enormously.

The guarantee conditions can be found further down in the offer, under “Legal provisions”.
