This was found in an early Maryland estate inside an 1800s wooden chest. Folded and wrapped in cloth around the flag itself. Super well preserved and from what I can tell an original hand made piece for when Texas joined the United States during or after the Mexican - American war in the 1840s. I am not a flag expert and have taken all the photos I can . The material is very old but in quite good shape. Does not feel like the flag material I am used to seeing. Stars are crudely cut and shaped and everything is hand stitched. There are some holes and repairs as seen. Along with some stains, discoloration , tears and more. This flag measures 54" wide by 95" long. It is double sided both sides have stitched stars 28 on each side. I am not sure if this was just a family made piece or who made this. I'm selling exactly as is and as seen. If you have any further questions or need more photos of anything please let me know. I have seen some examples of this but this one has a 14 th stripe. I'm not exactly sure why, I've read some thing about that and haven't gotten an exact answer. Again, I'm not an expert! See all photos ask any questions needed . Shipping cost will cover insurance and signature delivery.
