For Sale I have Right Handed 6 string Short Scale 7/8 size Cigar Box style Electric Acoustic Biscuit Tin Guitar made using a large M&S Tin, a 7/8 Scale Burswood Guitar neck and a number of guitar parts. there is a fair amount to talk about here, please read:
the overall length of the guitar is 34.5 inches. the tin is a chunky 9.75 inches long, 8.25 inches wide and 3.75 inches deep. the overall size of the tin to my ear adds a lot of sustain and resonance to the tone of the guitar especially when played acoustically. the scale length is 24 inches, which is the same as a Fender Mustang and Jaguar and I think the Duo Sonic as well and is in line with a 7/8 scale guitar (it is listed as 3/4 because it widens the search LOL).
The neck comes from a Burswood guitar, features 20 frets on a Rosewood fretboard and is rock solid, straight and the truss rod seems to be in good condition so no worries there. the neck is mounted on a single 1 inch thick length of pine, which runs through the complete length of the body and also serves as the mounting for the bridge.
the bridge a standard top loading 6 string bridge, the machine heads are the same in line machine heads that came as standard on the neck and so are the string trees. the tin is equipped with a pair of 25mm Piezo disc pickups which I positioned partial beneath the bridge and is underneath where the strings sit. I have wired the Piezos directly into a single standard A500k volume control pot and a standard guitar jack both of which are mounted on the lower right of the tin lid and added a white volume control knob.
At this moment, it is strung with the remains of a set of 9's which were used mostly for aligning the neck and bridge and I leave it up to you, the buyer to select a set of strings for this guitar. I have a large variety of Ernie Ball sets available, if you have a particular set in mind, let me know and I will string it up with whatever you need. due to the short scale, a set of 8's on this could be tuned high to aebGDA, a full fifth above the standard tuning but my personal recommendation for this particular guitar is a custom set of heavy Ernie Balls of 12,16,24w,32,42,52 or possibly slightly heavier with a set of 13's.
due to the size and weight of this guitar I will be shipping it via Parcelforce 48, which will ensure a fast and safe delivery. I do not normally offer international shipping, but if you talk to me first, should be able to arrange something, but I should say now, it will be expensive due to the size and weight. Also if you are off of the mainland of the UK or in Ireland, there is usually no additional charge for postage.
If you like my guitars, but do not see something specific you like, I can, at an agreed price, build something more bespoke upon request. Feel free to contact me with any enquiries, I will be making a listing specifically for bespoke builds in the near future, but please note my building period for the year is April to September, its a bit cold and wet for the rest of the year for me to build effectively.
if you have any questions or problems please do ask and do please check out my other guitars and instruments for sale. if you are purchasing more than one let me know so I can arrange a discount on the postage as I can combined into a single package.
thanks for looking and reading, happy shopping.
