This is a wonderful Edwardian silver Celtic Revival presentation twin-handled tazza crafted by Henry Matthews. The tazza has a fluted pedestal stand and a shallow saucer-style bowl with a wavy rim. The sides of the bowl are decorated with Celtic banding and roundels whilst the handles hang from a lug on each side and have graduated rings on their lower bar.The Arts and Crfats Movement of the late 19th and early 20th century reawakened an interest in all things Celtic and this dish reflects that interest. It is dated 1910 and was presented as a yachting trophy. It weighs 89 grams. There are a few contenders for the yacht club it was awarded by but nothing obvious in the UK. The North Shore Yachting Club of New York is perhaps the most likely although further research would be needed to confirm it through their regatta records. It's a beautiful trophy, making up in style and elegance for what it lacks in size.
