Limoges L&S Sazerat Handled Condiment Bowl w/Attached Plate Artist FAG 1891-1899
DESCRIPTION: This superb quality china has colors that are bright and vivid. This is painted on a blank of white fine china. The 8-sided condiment bowl is attached to the scalloped plate. This is really hard to photograph because the pearlized luster is so very glossy. The stylized flowers are quite colorful using purples, blues & greens on the light yellow background. It is tastefully done. The handle is painted in a solid gold and the rims are trimmed in gold.
CONDITION: While this set is classified as used, it is in superb condition. We can find no chips, cracks, hairlines, nicks, rubbings or repairs. There is no wear to the gold. There appears to be no crazing. See the photos. The lack of utensil scratches attests to the high quality of the fine china. The decorative set is beautiful and classically decorated and appears to have never been used.
DIMENSIONS: The 8-sided condiment bowl is 3 3/8" point to point and is 1 11/16" deep. The attached underplate is 5 1/2" at the handle while having a cross diameter of 5 1/4" with a height of 3/4".
HISTORY/MARKS: Leon Sazerat began manufacturing porcelain in Limoges during the 1850’s. By the early 1880’s he was joined by Blondeau in manufacturing & decorating porcelain. At some point in the 1891-1899 time period, Blondeau is joined by Pichonnier and Duboucheron as partners (after Sazerat’s death), but they continued to use the L&S mark. The company appears to cease operations in the late 1890’s.
