A carved wooden face mask with elegant facial treatment, small serene eyes, raised scar designs, diminutive mouth and elaborate curled coiffure accented with mineral pigments.  Note the remains of textile adhered to the mask perimeter, remains of a ceremonial costume. 

Ligbe or possibly Jimini peoples, Ivory Coast, Africa. Old field used masks from this ethnic group are rare.

The mask measures 16 inches tall,  21.5 inches tall on custom display stand..
