This is such a cool item believed from the Civil War era!! Wow the stories it could tell! As expected, it shows age and wear/marks from use. The Colt’s Patent is quite faded as shown in the photos.
This cool antique bullet mold made by COLT and was specifically for a Colt percussion revolver. Stamped Colt’s Patent. We think this is for a .36 caliber? And we also believe this is made of iron. Please see photos.
Please note that the measurements in the photos are in CENTIMETERS.
These tools were essential for shooters in the 19th century to cast their own lead ammunition in the field.
Dual Cavity: This specific model is a dual-cavity mold, designed to cast one round ball and one conical bullet (also known as a sugarloaf) in a single cycle.
Sprue Cutter: The flat iron piece on top is the sprue cutter, used to shear off excess lead from the top of the mold once the metal has cooled.
Markings: Stamped "COLT'S PATENT" on the top of the sprue cutter.
Another eBayer messaged me saying that he thinks this may actually be a smaller caliber so we are not sure of the sizing - Please view all photos.
