A beautiful ROYAL DOULTON Set of COFFEE POT w/Lid & 4 Flat DEMITASSE COFFEE CAN CUPS and SAUCERS, LARCHMONT T.C. 1019 pattern with BLACK, GREEN, BROWN & GREY LEAVES on WHITE w/GOLD Trim, Circa 1974-1997 from Burslem, Staffordshire, England
DESCRIPTION: This superb quality china has colors that are soft and soothing on a white background. This has a gold trim on the rims, spout and handles. The colors used are black, green, brown & grey on white with gold trim. The grey leaves give depth to the design.
CONDITION: While this set is classified as used, the condition is superb. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings or hairlines. There is no wear to the colors including the bold gold trim.
DIMENSIONS: The coffee pot is 9 3/4" to the top of the lidand 7" to the top of the handle with the top of the spout being 7 7/8". Handle to spout, the measurement is 7 3/4" while the maximum diameter is 4 3/8".. It has a capacity of 5 cups. The smooth rimmed demitasse coffee can cups have a diameter of 2 3/16" with a height of 2 9/16" and hold a capacity of 3 ounces. The saucers have a diameter 4 7/8" and a height of 5/8".
HISTORY/MARKS: Henry & James Doulton purchased an interest in Pinder, Bourne & Co. in 1877. Pinder left the business in 1882 and it was reconstituted under the name Doulton & Co., Burslem. The Royal Warrant and the right to use “Royal” in the name of its products were granted in 1901. The business continued under Henry Lewis Doulton from 1897-1919 and then under his grandson, Lewis Eric Hooper, who remained chairman until 1955. This pattern, Larchmont #T.C. 1019, was produced in the 1964-1997 time period. The website marks4ceramics cites the mark as mark #6 used 1930's-2000 with the "Fine China" notation used after 1973-1974. T.C. stands for Translucent China and makes this circa 1974-1997.
