The "Standing on the Shoulders of Giants" two pound coin is a definitive British coin first issued in 1997, featuring a unique edge inscription. The phrase, taken from a 1676 letter by Sir Isaac Newton to Robert Hooke, highlights the importance of building on past scientific achievements.
This rare coin has several errors. The dotted ring around the Queen's portrait is not perfectly centered, appearing as if it breaks or stops (See photos). Further, the coin appears to have an incompletely struck letter "L" in the word "SHOULDERS", and an incompletely struck letter "N" in the word "GIANTS" (See photos).
2005 Two Pound coin was well maintained, as shown.
