I think these are finisterre’s coolest (temperature wise) most relaxed short, have been in the collection several seasons now with little alterations to the fit but new season is shown in main, these now feature patch pockets but the zip on the rear pocket no longer features (cost saving I assume, seems a big loss functionally) and they are only brown or blue currently no black. 55% hemp and 45% cotton (checked on label at time of sale) I bought in yellow and dyed black but the stitching and rear pocket zip tape has remained original colour, but contrast stitch looks fine/intentional, dye is even and not the blue black but a true black I’d say and has held well since washing (Dylon machine dye) the pocket zip has a material cover anyway so yellow hardly seen there. The fly has a stitching detail that looks like a zip but these are unzipped so whilst I don’t wear shorts without underwear you could do this I’d say without discomfort even long term/wet. The material is very soft and light, great for round the house or at the beach/relaxing I have tried lots of shorts and hemp linen, this addition to cotton does seem, to keep you coolest/dryest..and let’s face it..now anything is worth a try to help with heat!. doesnt crease to the extent linen does so looks presentable if you have to get off your ass and do something! Rear pocket is zipped which is extremely useful as I always worry shorts with the loose fit are a risk security/loss wise regrading keys/wallets/phones and keeping this stuff in the front isn’t comfortable or seemly on baggy styles. Size wise I can wear as slim as 26” waist, typically wear 28/30 but clocked at 30” on the label I don’t find these loose thanks to the elastic, I’ve not had to use the drawstring (could be good if you’re running around with a keys/wallets/phone in your pocket!) yet there is enough room to easily fit two hands up to the palm in the waistband on so you’ve tonnes of flexibility on sizing there. Larger sizes may find they become a little tighter around the thighs or across the backside, depends how your legs are I guess but these are certainly wide/baggy fit. Inside leg is 7” Trying on I find pulled up to the crotch they are about 4/5” above the knee (I am only 5’7 mind you) and naturally sit 2” above my knee. These are currently £75 (oof!) and I think we all know they are unlikely to be in the sale until late autumn. I see only one pair in previous sales on eBay in a massive waist so..get em while you can! The ideal time.
