Infinity Tools 1/2" Shank Bird's Mouth Router Bit (57-505) (30° & 60°)

57-505 1/2" Shank Hexa/Dodeca Bit

The bird's mouth joint has been a favorite of wooden boat builders for decades, allowing the construction of hollow masts that are incredibility light and strong. In recent years this simple joint made at the router table had been embraced by furniture and cabinet makers looking to simplify all types of mitered joinery from coopered round columns to mitered cabinet corners. The bird's mouth joint provides three distinct advantages over a traditional miter joint.

First, it is fast and accurate requiring only one edge of each workpiece to be profiled.

Second, the nesting effect of the joint greatly simplifies workpiece alignment during glue-up.

Third, the resulting joint is incredibly strong due to its increased glue surface and joint geometry.
